Ways to Overcome the Stress and Anxiety

Stress, anxiety, depression, well we all came across with these terms at some point of our life. We have heard so many times through our friends and/or family member that they are feeling stressed but they don’t know the actual reason behind their stress. Even sometimes when they are having mood swings and not actually stressed but they use the term as a way of expression. People can report feeling “stressed” when multiple competing demands are placed on them. Stress is just a normal feeling, I mean if you take stress for finding a better job or nervous for a surprise test, that’s just normal guys. But if thoughts like doing suicide or hurting someone crosses your mind then it’s a matter to worry. You really need to seek a help.

The feeling of being “stressed” can be triggered by any event which can make you feel nervous and frustrated. Whereas “anxiety” is a feeling of fear, worry and unease. Anxiety is a reaction to stress, or it can occur in people who are not aware about the significant reasons behind their stress. Stress and anxiety is not always bad and negative, if taken in short term, it can help you overcome a challenge or difficult situations. At certain phase of life we really need to experience some anxiety for being motivated for things we need to do, just like the student studies for exams.
Of course, if things cross their limits then we need to cure them. It’s a well saying “Anything in excess is harmful to health”, so is the stress. Let’s consider some points to slow down your stress level.
  • Give time to yourself. If you know yourself, you are known to the world until and unless you just physically exist in the world. Just do what you love. Listen music, dance, read a book, go for a window shopping. Do whatever but do only things which you love to do, and not others.
  • Don’t skip your meals. Take healthy meals. Just remember food is a way to your mind, if you are empty stomach, you are unable to do any actions.
  • Avoid Alcohol for no reason. Just avoid it completely.
  • Take sleep of 8 to 10 hours daily. When you are stressed your body needs additional sleep and rest, so just give it.
  • Learn what triggers your anxiety, is it work, family, school, friends or something else. Write a journal every time you feel anxiety, and look for a pattern.
